Effective Problem Solving & Decision Making (WSQ Course)

This course aims to equip the learners with a comprehensive suite of tools, techniques and templates to solve problems and to make quality decisions, which include anticipating and identifying potential problems, facilitating team’s effort to resolve the problem, making appropriate decisions and formulating implementation plans.

The workshop will be conducted with a good blend of instruction, discussions, case studies and simulation games.  Participants are encouraged to bring their workplace problem into the workshop to solve.

The intended audienceManagers, supervisors and professionals to equip them with a suite of problem solving tools, techniques and templates for them to solve product-related, process-related and people-related problems effectively and efficiently.

Course Purpose

To equip the learners with a comprehensive suite of tools, techniques and templates to solve problems and to make quality decisions, which include anticipating and identifying potential problems, facilitating team’s effort to resolve the problem, making appropriate decisions and formulating implementation plans.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Identify symptom(s) that could lead to potential problem(s) at the workplace
  • Apply logical deduction to anticipate and detect problem(s) at the workplace based on symptom(s) and relevant information gathered
  • Analyse relevant information surrounding the perceived problem(s) and identify the exact problem using various techniques.
  • Analyse the root cause(s) of the problem(s) at the workplace using appropriate problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Facilitate generation of solutions to solve problem(s) by encouraging creativity among team members
  • Select a solution among the shortlisted ones collectively with team members
  • Develop an implementation plan that addresses the root cause(s) of the problem(s) and consider the impact to organization and customers
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented solution and implementation plan by analysing feedback gathered from relevant sources

Suggested Admission Criteria

  • Eligibility: Minimum 16 years old (Course Fee Support is only applicable to trainees aged 21 years and above)
  • Primary PSLE
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English and demonstrate competency at Level 4 for Employability Skills (ES) WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy

Notes

A WSQ Statement of Attainment will only be issued upon successful completion of the module by fulfilling the following requirements:

  • Achieve 75% attendance
  • Pass the assessment

  1. Singaporeans & PRs aged 21 years and above are allowed 90% funding.
  2. Absentee Payroll applies for company sponsored up to $10/training hour. Please use Absentee Payroll calculator provided by SSG to calculate the absentee payroll for your employee.
